Why winter is the perfect time to start laser tattoo removal

Modern laser tattoo removal equipment and protocols take advantage of clinical research to achieve better removals than ever before, however sunlight exposure of the skin remains an important factor in your tattoo removal.

We recommend waiting at least 4 weeks since significant sunlight exposure, such as a summer holiday. For laser tattoo removal to be effective your skin should be natural and healthy, this will give you the best chance of removal in the fewest possible sessions. A dark tan will slow down this process as some of the laser energy is absorbed before reaching the ink.

We also recommend waiting at least 8 weeks after your treatment before sunbathing. UV exposure before this point increases the chances of pigmentation marks in and around the area which has been treated.

For those of us living in the UK, the short days and weak sunlight make winter the perfect time to start laser tattoo removal.

If you do have to be in the sun, please cover your tattoo. A short term inconvenience will pay off when you are able to remove your tattoo in less sessions.
